About Shanee

As a little girl, Shanee always loved babies. After High School she pursued her nursing career graduating in 2007 with her Associates in Science as well as her Associates in Nursing from American River College. Shanee then landed her dream job in a high acuity Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Shanee later attended the University of California, Sacramento where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 2013. During her over ten years as a NICU nurse, Shanee specialized in newborns with gastrointestinal complications. Nutritional concerns with these babies led her down the path of learning more about the critical role breastmilk plays in overall health and wellness. She pursued her Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification in 2015 and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in 2017. Although Breastfeeding support for families was part of her entire career as a NICU nurse, Shanee had a stronger desire to help families with their breastfeeding concerns in the outpatient setting. This led her to leave the NICU in 2018 to provide outpatient support in the Placer County area to hundreds of moms and babies. She is very passionate about staying up to date on all things related to tethered oral tissues. It is very important to Shanee that mom, dad and baby receive the best support, guidance, and encouragement during their own unique breastfeeding journey.

Testimony from Rachel in Yuba City, CA

"I am a first time mom to a beautiful baby girl. I had a hard time obtaining lactation help in Yuba City where I live as my pediatrician did not have this service. I was left to find a private IBCLC and paid $245 out of pocket for one to come to my house for two hours. Although she was kind, it wasn't until I met Shanee who was a guest speaker at a mother's group I attended in Roseville that I realized how lacking that expensive visit was. I unnecessarily struggled for five weeks with breastfeeding issues, mastitis, pain, frustration, and hopelessness. Had I had the appropriate education and guidance I could have avoided so many days of missed joy with my newborn. Shanee gave me more help and encouragement in that group session and later via phone and text than anyone else had been able to. Without her help and the resources she gave me I would likely not be breastfeeding today. I am now exclusively breastfeeding and loving the bond it gives my daughter and I. I would refer any friends and family to Shanee!"

Testimony from Dustin in Roseville, CA

"As a husband and first-time parent navigating all of the new challenges that come with a child can be extremely overwhelming. Aside from learning to be a father, you also have to learn to be supportive of the person you are parenting with. As a husband, Shanee was truly the best thing that could happen for my wife. Feeding your child directly not only holds physical value for the child but also an emotional value for the mother. I feel that Shanee's guidance had a positive impact on our child's feeding as well as the relationship between my wife and I."

Testimony from Courtney in Roseville, CA

"As a new mother, my husband and I were beyond excited to bring our baby girl home. Being first time parents, the first weeks of parenthood were both amazing and challenging. My daughter and I struggled with breastfeeding and ensuring she was getting enough to eat each day. Shanee was our rock during this wonderful but very difficult time. There were days when I told myself, "at least I get to see Shanee tomorrow". She is extremely knowledgeable and gave us the support and encouragement we so desperately needed at that time. I can't imagine the first few months of my baby's life without Shanee. She supported my family and I to reach our feeding goals and have a happy healthy baby. I recommend Shanee to absolutely everyone. She is the best!!!!"

Testimony from Amy in Lincoln, CA

"Shanee is amazing and came highly recommended by a nurse at the hospital. As soon as I was released I got an appt with her since my last breastfeeding experience with my second child was extremely difficult. Shanee evaluated, observed and offered solutions to help with my daughters tongue and lip tie to improve our nursing relationship. She was with us all the way through the process of seeing a pediatric dentist to having her ties released. After the release Shanee worked with me under a very stressful and tiring process to understand the stretches so reattachment did not occur. She was always so understanding and gentle with my emotions as a new mom to three kiddos. My experience with my second child did not have this happy story, my doctor was not educated on breastfeeding and said my supply was just low. I tried to get help from other lactation consultants and never received the care that Shanee provided my daughter and I. Per our dentist, our son has a tongue and lip tie which explains our horrific breastfeeding experience. I am so thankful for Shanee and her devotion and passion to help babies and their mommies successfully nurse."

Testimony from Cassi in Roseville, CA

"After having a difficult experience trying to breastfeed our first daughter, my husband and I debated even trying with our second child. After a relatively easy labor I delivered my beautiful daughter and was praised by the nurses on how well I was breastfeeding her. Once home I felt I was doing an excellent job and thought that the pain I was experiencing was normal. Although our baby seemed happy and content, when we saw the pediatrician she was not gaining weight. We were then referred to the RN IBCLC, Shanee. Through a series of appts with Shanee we were able to identify that our daughter was not properly transferring milk despite spending an hour or more at the breast. Shanee identified a posterior tongue tie to be the issue. We were then referred to an ENT that specializes in ties and had it released via laser. After the procedure my daughter immediately started effectively feeding and gaining weight putting her back on the proper growth curve per her doctor. Despite seeing several lactation consultants with my first daughter, none were able to provide the clinical knowledge that Shanee did being that she is an IBCLC and RN. Shanee continued to provide any additional care we needed during our breastfeeding journey such as issues with milk blebs, clogged ducts and mastitis. Her clinical knowledge and level of care are unmatched. My original breastfeeding goal was two weeks, then a month, then two months, and so on. My daughter is now fifteen months and still successfully breastfeeding."

Testimony from Kelsey in Loomis, CA

"Shortly after my son was born, I noticed that breastfeeding was very painful. My son's pediatrician recommended we see Shanee and she discovered my son had a posterior tongue tie and lip tie preventing him from being able to have a good latch. These issues also were causing my son to have issues drinking from a bottle. Shanee recommended bowen therapy and releases of his oral ties. Shanee gave me so much support during this difficult time. She was the only one that listened to me and gave me all the emotional and mental support I needed to deal with my postpartum depression. Shanee is the kindest, sweetest and most caring person. She truly listens to you and helps you with your needs as a mother. Because of her, my son completely blossomed and thrived after our visits, I highly recommend her to be a part of your child's care team."

Testimony from Trinidy in Rocklin, CA

"Shanee helped us get through one obstacle only to be met by the next in our breastfeeding journey. She discovered my son had a high palate and a tongue tie. His tongue tie was causing him to choke in his sleep on his saliva and he would even wake up vomiting. The pediatrician prescribed zantac while Shanee helped us find a doctor to do the release on his tongue tie. She helped us through several instances when my son's weight gain halted for weeks at a time by doing weighted feeds to make sure he was getting enough from me. As a new mother I was terrified and treading new waters I knew nothing about. I am thankful every day that we had Shanee. With her help we made it to a year of successful breastfeeding and I am extremely grateful."
